Mirko Maksimainen obtained a M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Joensuu in 2008 and Ph.D. from the University of Eastern Finland in 2012 under the supervision of Juha Rouvinen. He was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Eastern Finland between 2013-2015. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher in University of Oulu, Finland. He has determinated the crystal structures of Trichoderma reesei (GH35) [1], Aspergillus oryzae (GH35) [2] and Bacillus circulans sp. alkalophilus (GH42) [3] β-galactosidases.
