In 2003 I obtained my BSc in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, where I did my honours thesis project in the laboratory of Dr. Natalie Strynadka.  My PhD in Biochemistry was completed in 2009 at the University of Victoria, Victoria, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Alisdair Boraston.  The focus of this work was mainly on the glycoside hydrolase virulence factors produced by the bacterial pathogen ''Clostridium perfringens''.  Currently I am doing post-doctoral work for Dr. Alisdair Boraston and Dr. Martin Boulanger at the University of Victoria. I am studying prokaryotic and eukaryotic invaders of the human body and their carbohydrate-based host-pathogen interactions.
