GH61 is a deleted family

The enzymes in this family were originally classified as a glycoside hydrolases (GH61) based on very weak endo-1,4-beta-D-glucanase activity in one family member. They are now reclassified into Auxiliary Activity Family 9 in CAZy [1]. AA9 proteins are copper-dependent lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs); cleavage of cellulose chains with oxidation of various carbons (C-1, C-4 and C-6) has been reported several times in the literature (see [2] and references therein).
