Welcome to CAZypedia, the encyclopedia of carbohydrate-active enzymes

CAZypedia has been initiated as a community-driven resource to assemble a comprehensive encyclopedia of the enzymes and binding proteins involved in the synthesis and degradation of carbohydrates. CAZypedia is inspired by, and closely connected with, the actively curated CAZy Database.

CAZypedia is built on an authoring and editing system similar to that of the expert-based online encyclopedia Citizendium. All contributors to CAZypedia, from entry authors to the Board of Curators are selected experts in the field. Transparency is achieved through the use of contributors' real names, and each contributor is required to have a short, scientific biography in CAZypedia.
